Training
Umulig Engineering (Pty)Ltd offers two types of training, namely being continuous professional development (CPD) training for ECSA registered engineers, technologists and technicians. We also offer installation training for organisations and tradespeople who want to be certified installers of Aquatherm piping systems.
CPD Training
The continuous professional development course is a 2-day training programme accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). The course is titled “Industrial Applications of Polypropylene Pipes”. The accreditation number for the course is SAIMechE-1387-06/23 and participants may claim 2 CPD credits in category 1 for attending this activity. The target audience is candidate and professional mechanical and civil engineers, technologists and engineering technicians. The objective of the course is to equip registered individuals with the knowledge of how best they use polypropylene (PP-R) polymer pipes to solve everyday fluid flow problems they may encounter. The topics covered are:
- Materials theory on polymers
- Applications of PP-R pipes (advantages & disadvantages)
- PP-R pipe processing (Socket Welding, Butt Welding & Electrofusion Welding
- PP-R design principles (Calculations and Planning)

Installation Training
The installation training is a 5-day training programme aimed at equipping technicians with the necessary skills to enable them to be certified installers of Aquatherm Piping Systems. Upon successful completion of the training programme, attendees will become certified to work with Aquatherm pipe systems. The target audience is:
- Plumbers
- Refrigeration Technicians
- Pipe welders
- Pipe fitters
The intensive training course covers all the necessary topics to work with the Aquatherm processing tools. Certification and prior experience in a piping related field is a prerequire prior to attending the course. The topics covered during the training are:
- Aquatherm PP-R Plastic Systems
- Pipe Cutting & Cleaning
- Socket Fusion Welding
- Electrofusion Welding
- Butt Welding
- Saddle Welding
- UV & OT Pipe processing
- Pressure Testing
Umulig Engineering also offers onsite training for organisations working with our piping systems. This training covers basics required by the project.
